چکیده

We present an information-theoretic approach to obtain an estimate of the number of bits that can be hidden in still images, or, the capacity of the data-hiding channel. We show how the addition of the message signal or signature in a suitable transform domain rather than the spatial domain can signiicantly increase the channel capacity. Most of the state-of-the-art schemes developed thus far for data-hiding have embedded bits in some transform domain, as it has always been implicitly understood that a decomposition would help. In this paper we compare the achievable data-hiding capacities for diierent decompositions like DCT, Hartley, Hadamard, and subband transforms. We show that transforms with inferior energy compaction property like Hartley and Hadamard are better choices for the decomposition, than transforms with good energy-compaction property, like DCT or subband (wavelet) transforms.

A framework for evaluating the data-hiding capacity of image sources

An information-theoretic model for image watermarking and data hiding is presented in this paper. Previous theoretical results are used to characterize the fundamental capacity limits of image watermarking and data-hiding systems. Capacity is determined by the statistical model used for the host image, by the distortion constraints on the data hider and the attacker, and by the information avai...

A Reversible Data Hiding Scheme Based on Histogram Modification in Integer DWT Domain for BTC Compressed Images

Reversible data hiding is an efficient way for embedding additional data into cover media, which can reversibly recover the original cover media when the additional data is extracted. It has been widely utilized in secure communication and copyright protection. A reversible data hiding scheme imposed on the quantized coefficients of compressed images based on block truncation coding (BTC) is pr...

Singular Value Decomposition based Steganography Technique for JPEG2000 Compressed Images

In this paper, a steganography technique for JPEG2000 compressed images using singular value decomposition in wavelet transform domain is proposed. In this technique, DWT is applied on the cover image to get wavelet coefficients and SVD is applied on these wavelet coefficients to get the singular values. Then secret data is embedded into these singular values using scaling factor. Different com...

High Capacity Reversible Data Hiding in AMBTC-Compressed Images

This paper proposes a high capacity reversible data hiding scheme in images compressed by absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC). The quantization levels of compressed blocks are employed as cover media, and some extra confidential data are hidden in it based on a multilevel histogram shifting mechanism. The transmission system preserves the same complexity. Moreover, the reconstructed...

A Data Hiding Technique in JPEG Compressed Domain

JPEG is a common image format in the world wide web. JPEG-compressed images can be used to hide data for secret internet communication and simply any auxiliary data. In this paper, we propose an algorithm called J-Mark to embed invisible watermark information into JPEG compressed images in the compress domain. There are three parts of J-Mark: block selection, DCT coefficient selection, and modi...
